'Ganktsuo', the classic story of The Count of Monte Cristo retold skillfully in an elegant style of Japanese art.
There are not many similarities in the plot unless you know the original quite well....

in japan things are never as they seem. japanese tend to use the classic "look and feel" of a visual stimuli to obtain any sort of knowledge about a person , place or time. for the same reasons its much easier for a japanese to understand a manga then it is for them to understand real life people in a film
